MINERAL RESOURCES
Our mining-related experience spans from the Iron Range of Minnesota to the plains of the Dakotas. Whether you explore for lignite, gravel, sand, rock or other minerals, we can provide drilling services to help with your search.
On-site safety is our top priority.
We recognize that safety is of the utmost importance. Our employees who are assigned to work on mining-related sites are trained in accordance with applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) requirements.
Lignite exploration and E-Logging services.
We perform lignite exploration services to help you assess the geotechnical framework of the lignite resources available on your site. During lignite exploration we use geophysical E-logging at each bore hole to generate boring reports as the project progresses. This includes Gamma, Caliper, Density and Resistivity data to complement and correlate to the core log. E-logging units are mounted on four-wheel drive trucks and are set up to e-log to a depth of 4,000 feet.
Our E-logging services let you receive computer-generated boring reports as the project progresses. We use Visual Compu-Log drilling software specifically developed for the mining and environmental fields to display and print boring logs in real time. This means we provide you with printed or electronic reports immediately after logging each boring. Your company can use the information to establish maps of the direction, thickness, quality and types of the geologic material in your area.
Sand, gravel and clay exploration.
To successfully explore for sand, gravel or clay, you need to understand the geologic, hydrologic and subsurface conditions of the sites. To begin the process, we map the geologic features that are indicative of the presence of sand, gravel or clay. Then we perform soil borings to obtain samples for classification and testing to give you an understanding of the location, quality and quantity of marketable sands, aggregates or clay on the site. Using our in-house materials laboratory, we can test the composition and quality of your aggregate to help determine the economic value of the materials before you go through the expense of extraction.
Rock exploration services.
Using rock-coring tools, we core into rock formations to retrieve samples for classification and rock quality evaluation. Exploration depths generally range from 10 to 100 feet below the ground’s surface.
