ENGINEERING ANALYSIS

Our professional engineers bring years of experience to your project. We work on a wide variety of structures including buildings, bridges, retaining walls, roads, levees and rail and roadway embankments. We also evaluate the components of these structures and offer ground improvement/foundation preparation alternatives from the standpoint of bearing capacity, settlement, drainage and other performance parameters. We use the results of our analyses to develop practical and cost-effective recommendations for site grading and foundation, and slab and pavement design. We can also develop monitoring programs to help demonstrate that the methods used by the builders on your project are successful.

Foundation systems.

We have expertise with the following structure elements:

  • Driven piles
  • Helical piers
  • Drilled shafts
  • Auger cast piles
  • Spread footings
  • Mat foundations

When it comes to demonstrating the performance of systems during construction, we use Pile Driving Analysis (PDA), static load testing, static cone penetrometer, dynamic cone penetrometer, and excavation and compaction testing services.

Ground improvement and soil stabilization.

If your site requires ground improvement or soil stabilization, we can offer a number suggestions for solutions:

  • Dynamic compaction
  • Vibration compaction
  • Excavation and backfill
  • Soil grouting
  • Rammed aggregate piers

Engineering analysis for associated structures:

  • Cut and fill slopes
  • Reinforced soil slopes
  • Mechanically stabilized earth walls
  • Gabion walls
  • Rail and roadway embankments
  • Settlement analyses/surcharging for settlement control
  • Slope repair (landslides)
  • Swamp crossings
  • Wick drains for settlement control

Foundation system analysis.
We use a number of tools to further evaluate the anticipated performance of foundation systems prior to construction including:

  • Standard Penetration Test Boring
  • Cone Penetrometer Test Sounding
  • Static Cone Penetrometer
  • Dynamic Cone Penetrometer
  • Pressuremeter
  • Wave Equation Analysis of Pile Driving (WEAP)
  • Case Pile Wave Analysis Program (CAPWAP)

We also work with you to develop testing programs using construction instrumentation and monitoring that validate the design of these structures and demonstrate they will function as designed.
