Alliant Energy has several power production facilities with structures and equipment that contain asbestos, and ongoing plant modifications, additions and repairs require that it be removed.

Braun Intertec was retained to provide state-certified supervision, monitoring, sampling and management of asbestos abatement projects.

Challenges

Scheduling is the biggest challenge on this contract. Work is typically completed when plant maintenance is not in progress, which requires us to provide certified technicians on Alliant’s schedule, which may include weekends. Also, some repair projects provide little advance notice that require an immediate response by our state-certified technicians and project managers.
