Braun Intertec has completed numerous consulting and engineering assignments for the Mayo Foundation, broadening and enhancing components included in its integrated waste management program.
Challenges Due to the organization’s extensive scope, Mayo needs a firm that can provide a wide array of technical and consulting services. To name a few, these programs have dealt with medical waste, biomedical waste, yard waste, recyclable, general hospital waste (MSW), and incinerator ash resulting from the medical, administrative and operations facilities located on the campus. Solutions Specific services provided for the Mayo Foundation have included:
- Assessments of waste composition and analysis
- Compliance management plans
- Technical and economic feasibility studies
- Performance testing
- Alternatives analysis
- Operation and training programs
Waste management techniques include waste reduction, resource recovery, incineration and landfilling.
We have performed wastewater assessments at several Foundation facilities. We have identified sources of various constituents and assisted the Foundation in establishing programs that have aided the City of Rochester in meeting its wastewater treatment standards.
The implementation of several of the programs has resulted in the compliance with state and federal regulations for special wastes, and has significantly reduced overall waste management expenditures. We continue to perform ongoing services for the Foundation.
