Braun Intertec was retained to assist with construction of an $18 million state-of-the-art cancer center on the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center campus.
We were responsible for the geotechnical and soil evaluation of the site. Additionally, we provided concrete and structural steel inspection and testing with our ICBO certified professionals. Challenges The team needed to meet testing needs on a very tight construction budget and faced construction of a vault for the facility’s x-ray equipment. Solutions After consulting with the contractor to reduce testing frequency where possible, we reduced the testing costs to $20,000 under budget. Due in part to our team’s engineering and materials expertise for the pad preparation and concrete for the vault, we were able to support its construction.
