Top 3 Environmental Challenges for New Site Development
By Braun Intertec | August 1, 2024
While renewable natural gas (RNG) technology has been around for a long time, the development of new RNG facilities has boomed in response to social pressures, as well as pressures from customers and company stakeholders asking for cleaner energy sources.
What is Renewable Natural Gas (RNG)?
RNG is a term for biogas used as a fuel or energy source. This biogas is typically used in the same way as natural gas. RNG can be extracted from a landfill or produced through an anaerobic digester. This process starts with a renewable energy source such as agricultural waste, wastewater, food waste, or plant material put through an anaerobic digestor. The anaerobic digestor will produce biogas and a sludge-like material that can be used as fertilizer.
