Burleson Fire Station #2

The City of Buleson relocated Fire Station #2 to enhance emergency response capabilities and accommodate the city's growth. The relocation provides strategic access to major roadways, including Interstate I-35W, creating faster response times to areas such as HighPoint Business Park, Hidden Vistas subdivision, and future residential developments. The new station will feature modern firefighter safety standards, improved living spaces, and an emergency operations center to bolster disaster response.

Braun Intertec provided geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing services for the 10,000 square foot, two-story fire station with entry drives and parking areas. The geotechnical engineering services included field drilling and sampling, performing laboratory testing, geotechnical analyses, and the preparation of a geotechnical report. The findings and recommendations included using underreamed drilled shafts to support a suspended concrete floor slab, addressing minimal soil heave requirements. Laboratory tests included Atterberg limits and moisture contents in addition to visual examination and classification of the foundation soils.

Construction materials testing services included earthwork laboratory and field testing; drilled shaft foundation systems and installation observation; reinforcing steel observation; structural concrete testing; structural steel and deck observation and masonry observation for the storm shelter.
