Chamberlain Municipal Airport Runway Rehabilitation

The Chamberlain Municipal Airport Runway Rehabilitation Project enhanced the airport’s infrastructure to better serve its users, including seasonal and general aviation operations. The project focuses on pavement rehabilitation, taxiway geometry improvements, and instrument approach enhancements to ensure safer and more efficient aircraft movement.

Braun Intertec performed a geotechnical evaluation on a portion of runway 13-31, which is approximately 1,900 feet in length and 35 feet. Our scope included standard penetration borings to a depth of 10 feet to examine pavement condition and soils present. Borings were backfilled and restored to original condition with bituminous patch material. Laboratory samples were taken to complete classification of the soils, and we performed a variety of tests to aid in our recommendations of the intended rehabilitation. Once laboratory tests were complete, a geotechnical report with recommendations was provided in accordance with FAA pavement design.
