Fort McCoy Transient Training Barracks
The Fort McCoy Transient Training Barracks Project is a multi-phase initiative aimed at enhancing housing facilities for enlisted service members undergoing training at the installation. This project is part of a broader effort to modernize Fort McCoy’s training facilities and support military readiness.
Braun Intertec was contracted to assist with building enclosure commissioning in McCoy, Wisconsin, including conducting a review of the design and anticipated construction means and methods. Our review focused on the exterior enclosure drawings and pertinent technical specifications to include roofing; waterproofing; exterior wall assemblies; air/weather/vapor barriers; thermal insulation; storefront and curtain wall systems; exterior cladding systems; drainage planes/thru wall flashings; material transitions as well as material compatibilities and joint sealants. Our review of the construction document drawings and specifications placed an emphasis on addressing system interfaces, material compatibilities, air and vapor resistance and permeability characteristics to determine compliance with the project documents, industry standards and building codes. Suggestions were made for installation sequences to improve resistance to water intrusion or moisture infiltration.
