Braun Intertec performed a PSM/RMP audit and PHA of a large bulk storage terminal. The Site is covered under both RMP and PSM for their chemical processes and the PHA utilized Checklist, What-If/Checklist, Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) methodologies. The PHA included a revalidation of multiple chemical processes. Due to the size of the facility and number of chemical processes, the PHA took several months to complete. Chemicals evaluated were vinyl acetate monomer, toluene diisocyanate, acrylonitrile, cyclohexane, isopentane, and other highly toxic and flammable liquids.

Braun Intertec worked with the Site’s schedule and conducted the PHA virtually, which reduced travel costs and allowed for flexibility with the Site’s PHA team.

The PSM/RMP audit included an assessment of the adequacy and effectiveness of the RMP/PSM program, a review of compliance with applicable regulations, and a field inspection of process equipment, tanks/containers, and work practices associated with the covered processes.

Braun Intertec provided two auditors on Site for three days to review records, evaluate Site conditions, and observe work practices. A written report containing completed checklists and a gap analysis table identifying any noted deficiencies, along with recommendations for improvement where applicable was provided.
