Texas Rangers Ballpark
The new Texas Rangers Ballpark Complex features a retractable roof and will seat just over 40,000 fans. The extreme heat of a typical Texas summer is part of what prompted the Rangers to look at building a new ballpark. The months of July and August are known for unbearable outside temperatures, which can cause fans to become uncomfortable. The retractable roof will provide some relief in the hot summer months but will slide completely off the field to create an open-air feel inside the park during more temperate weather.
Other features of the new ballpark include natural light from exterior glass panels, an asymmetrical field and seating, and a more intimate feel for the fans. The concourses are designed so that you can still see the field when you are up out of your seat, so you don’t have to miss any of the action.
Braun Intertec provided firestop special inspection services, construction materials testing and structural steel inspections for this project. This project falls into a high-risk category for fire safety, therefore, required inspection of through-penetration firestopping and fire-resistive joint systems. The International Building Code requires special inspection of installed firestopping systems by a qualified independent testing agency. Our special inspectors meet the requirements for on-site inspection of installed fire stops and have a minimum of two years of construction inspection experience. The nature, extent and results of their special inspection activities are submitted to the authorizing authority, installer and general contractor’s on-site personnel for their review and records.
