Brewery Compliance & Safety Program Support

Braun Intertec has had a long-standing partnership with a major client in the craft brewing industry, providing support with the facility’s environmental and health and safety programs.

We work closely with the brewery team to provide a wide range of support, which includes air permitting and compliance, stormwater, wastewater, and waste compliance, along with auditing and training for these programs. We have assisted the client with development and management of the site’s industrial and hazardous Waste Management Plan, Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan for their on-site oil storage, and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWP3). We also prepare the facility’s annual reporting for Tier II and Toxics Release Inventory (TRI).

We have partnered with the facility to develop sustainability efforts to reduce wastewater generation through an innovative land application process. After working with the brewery and state and local regulators to obtain authorization to land apply generated wastewater, our team helps verify the facility is operating within their limits. We continue to support the team with troubleshooting of their wastewater treatment operations.

In addition, we provide health and safety compliance services for the Client’s facility. The brewery’s anhydrous ammonia refrigeration system falls under OSHA's Process Safety Management (PSM) and the EPA's Risk Management Plan (RMP). Braun Intertec has conducted the required three-year audit of the brewery’s PSM/RMP program. Additionally, one of the larger tasks we assist with is revalidating the Client’s anhydrous ammonia refrigeration process hazard analysis (PHA) to ensure regulatory compliance. In addition to the PHA, the EPA requires an update to the facility’s RMP every five years. This update required a review of relevant PHA documentation, including training, compliance audits, management of change, and emergency response activities. We revised the Off-Site Consequence Analysis (OCA) scenarios using current data. These updates ensured that the RMP submission reflected the most accurate and current information available for regulatory compliance and emergency planning.
