Braun Intertec provides ongoing environmental permitting and compliance support for a refining and midstream facility with over 1 million barrels of crude and refined product storage and an on-site wastewater treatment system. The team has maintained and updated compliance programs as operations expand and improve.

The facility’s stormwater and wastewater discharges are authorized under the Stormwater Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) and a Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) Individual Permit, respectively. Braun Intertec has supported the facility in coordinating amendments to these permits as facility operations expanded into co-located industrial activities. This includes submittal of MSGP Notice of Change (NOC), revisions to the facility Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWP3), and major amendment and renewal of the facility’s TPDES Permit. Support for the TPDES Permit renewal and amendment included development of a Sampling and Analysis Plan, coordination of Public Notices, review of the draft permit, and agency negotiations. Braun Intertec continues to support the facility with TPDES Permit notifications to the agency as required based on facility modifications.

To support the facility’s hydrostatic testing and firewater system needs, Braun Intertec supported the facility with obtaining a new Temporary Water Rights Permit as well as submitting an amendment for the facility’s permanent Water Rights Permit. Braun Intertec was able to facilitate a quick turnaround on the temporary permit to allow the facility to proceed with planned operations until such time that the permanent Water Rights Permit amendment is approved.

In addition, Braun Intertec supports the facility’s industrial and hazardous waste program including ongoing revisions to the Waste Management Plan and procedures and source minimization initiatives through updates to the facility’s Pollution Prevention Plan.
