Building Enclosure Commissioning

Decorative Line Pattern

Braun Intertec reviews and provides recommendations to areas of the envelope that may create issues with water intrusion, thermal transfer, constructability constraints, and possible material failures.

\Whether it is a peer review or general consulting, we focus on the exterior envelope and pertinent technical specifications to include waterproofing systems, roofing systems, exterior wall assemblies, air/weather/vapor barriers, thermal insulation, fenestration systems, exterior cladding systems including drainage planes/through wall flashings, material transitions as well as material compatibilities and joint sealants.

Wall Systems, Air Barrier & Fenstrations

  • ASHRAE 90.1 continuous air barrier verification
  • Thermographic inspections per ASTM C1060
  • Peer Reviews of specifications, construction documents and materials
  • Window and curtainwall air infiltration/water penetration testing (AAMA/FGIA Accredited Field Testing Agency)
  • EIFS special inspections
  • Building enclosure observations
  • Air/vapor barrier and through wall flashing inspections

Roof

  • Thermographic inspections per ASTM C1060
  • Roofing inspections
  • Roof systems
  • Roof assembly
  • Peer reviews of specifications, construction documents and materials
  • Waterproofing inspections
  • Repair, restoration, and design

Testing

When testing is necessary to locate the source of moisture damage, air leaks, and other building enclosure problems, we have an array of options to choose from.

  • Whole building air leakage (blower door) per ASTM E779/USACE Standards
  • Window and curtainwall air infiltration/water penetration testing per AAMA/FGIA 501.2, 502 and 503
  • Moisture vapor emission testing (ASTM F2420 & F2170)
  • Roof membrane upload testing
  • Electronic leak detection (ELD) per ASTM D7877
  • Adhesion testing for air barrier per ABAA-T0002/ASTM D4541
