On-site Observation & Testing
We provide construction materials testing services to developers, contractors, consultants, municipalities, agencies and corporations. Working closely with your team, Braun Intertec anticipates and minimizes potential problems that could result in costly project delays and provides you with targeted solutions.
Quality Assurance/Quality Control
Our quality management system (QMS) emphasizes an environment of responding, identifying, measuring, controlling, and improving our core processes for clear and timely QA/QC results for your project.
Key Services
- Quality policy
- Quality objectives
- Quality manual
- Organizational structure and responsibility
- Data management
- Process and process enhancements
- Product quality
- Continuous improvement (including corrective and preventative action)
Asphalt Batch Plant & Pavement Observations
Local department of transportation and project-specific specifications include material acceptance guidelines. Our asphalt batch and pavement observations help our clients assess the mixture’s durability and potential lifecycle.
Asphalt Batch Observations
- Mix and testing equipment verification
- Monitoring daily production tests performed by the contractor
- Obtaining verification samples of the mix being placed
- Performing quality tests on approved asphalt/bituminous mixtures.
Pavement Observations
- Pavement lift thickness verification
- Mix placement temperature documentation
- Randomly determining core locations
- Observing the contractor or self-performing the core extraction
Concrete Batch Plant & Paving Observations
When the concrete quality delivered to your project is critical, concrete batch plant inspections provide you with the added benefit of knowing the mix designs and the properties allocated are properly prepared before leaving the plant.
Concrete Batch Observations
- Monitoring plant operations prior to and during production
- Aggregate identification and testing
- Concrete property (cement, fly ash, and admixtures) verification and sampling
We also provide advanced concrete design and evaluation of mix designs.
Concrete Placement Observation & Testing
Our American Concrete Institute (ACI) certified technicians perform on-site testing and observations. During each placement, Braun Intertec tests the fresh concrete to confirm the concrete delivered meets project specifications. These tests avoid costly rework by helping to prevent the placement of incorrect mix designs or durability specifications. Strength samples are prepared to establish whether the concrete ultimately attains design or adequate strength to allow for form stripping, stressing, or steel erection. Experienced technicians on site during the concrete placement document and perform placement observations to evaluate the structure’s reinforcement and other critical components.
We also provide advanced concrete design and evaluation.
Soil Compaction Testing & Observation
Soil observations and testing are an integral part of building a solid foundation. From evaluating the subgrade to assessing fill soil and compaction testing, our engineers and experienced technicians prevent issues during construction that can arise from unsuitable soils and improperly placed fills.
Foundations
Foundation system performance depends on multiple factors including geotechnical conditions, applied loads, and specific site and project considerations. Each phase of the design, installation, inspection, and quality assurance testing process is critical to the success of a foundation performing its intended purpose. A well-planned and implemented testing and inspection program often results in significant construction savings. In addition, constant and knowledgeable inspection can lead to an increase in reliability and reduction of risk. We have years of experience with a wide variety of foundation support systems including various pile systems, drilled piers, auger cast pile and rammed aggregate piers.
